Lucas was born and raised in the state of Wisconsin. He comes from a strong family coaching tree, where his dad has coached for 30 years at the high school level, and his brother for 15. He grew up a multi-sport athlete, earning varsity letters for 3 years in basketball, football, and golf. He went on to play basketball at a junior college in Wisconsin, before transferring to UW-Stevens Point where he earned his degree in Physical Education and Health. During college, Lucas hung up his playing shoes for his coaching shoes. He became the head JV coach and varsity assistant coach for the girls basketball program at Stevens Point Area Senior High. During his 4 years of coaching with the program, they won multiple regional championships and conference championships.

Recently, Lucas has moved to the Charlotte area where he brings his playing, teaching, and coaching experience to Yes I Can Basketball. He prides himself on having patience, using a positive teaching style, and being able to connect with his players. He has a calm aura about him that allows his players to be themselves and play freely rather than playing tense.
